Collaborations have become a critical aspect in the photography community. Read along to find out the industry’s etiquette between models and photographers!
Aerial Views of El Peñol y La Laguna de Guatapé, Columbia
The man-made lake of Guatapé is definitely one of the most beautiful spots we’ve experienced in Colombia. The area was flooded to create the biggest hydroelectric power station in Colombia. This has created a really peculiar orange shoreline, which contrasts with the green pine trees. The lake is now home to several water sports attractions
Photographing The Bask Nest by Jason de Caires Taylor
Described as hauntingly beautiful, the Gili Meno statues have quickly become a snorkelling and free-diving hotspot in the international community. The project, named Bask Nest was commissioned by BASK Gili Meno, the eco-resort in which the statues sit in front of, and created by British sculptor, Jason de Caires Taylor.
The Calm of the Air: A Highland Journey 4k
The Calm of the Air: A Highland Journey 4K was made in a schedule of 9 days in April 2019, using my own funding to travel and stay in Scotland. As an insight into the weather of Scotland in April, only 3 of the 9 days had overcast or sunny weather, the remainder was a mixture of drizzle or heavy rain. As a result, most of the film was shot during those 3 days, and opportunistic pauses in the rain otherwise.
Mermaid Reef: Sony a7sii + Stack, Blend, and Composite
This photo is taken in Arrecife de las Sirenas, Almería (Spain) with a simple 61 seconds exposure, at ISO 5000. At 4 am in the place of the shot you can't see anything, it's all black, now you understand why these settings are so overstated. The lens used was a 14mm wide-angle at F2.8 to be able to capture a large field of vision in wide-angle.
How to Shoot Motion Blur on Moving Vehicles: Drones + DJI Mavic Mini
To take such a photo you need a slow your shutter speed. Explore the flight path in advance to avoid obstacles, traffic signs, trees etc. Point the drone in the direction facing your subject. Start flying along just before the vehicle comes into view so that the vehicle slowly appears on the screen and try to follow at the same speed of the vehicle.
Milky Way Reflection Through the Trees: Nikon D810 + 17 Frames
In this composited image of an Astro reflection, I wanted to depict how we may be feeling about the current worldwide situation and our need to reflect on certain concepts. Whenever we aim our camera to the night sky we face two major obstacles: 1) the light reaching us from the stars is very dim, so we need to take long exposures, but... 2) The earth is spinning! So if we take really long exposures, beyond certain limits, the stars begin to trail and will show as little lines instead of pinpoint stars.
Polar Express: Timelapse of Morant's Curve
Composed of nearly 1,500 photographs, this timelapse captures the passing freight trains along the Canadian Pacific Railway in Banff National Park. At fifteen second exposures per image, the result is a quick flash of light as the trains appear to hurdle by, when in reality, trains can take minutes to pass.
Moment Anamorphic Filter + Mavic 2 Pro
The first thing that struck me when I opened the Moment anamorphic lens case for the DJI Mavic 2 Pro was "wow that's a beautifully made piece of kit ". The lens flares beautifully with that classic blue line that identifies itself proudly as an anamorphic lens. The footage was shot in the Maldives at Mirihi island resort
The Yosemite Firefall at Horesetail Falls
Yosemite’s Fire Fall is a natural phenomena that only happens in late February when the light from the sunset hits the water from Horsetail Falls just right to make it appear that the water is on fire (pending other perfect conditions).
Venice Nights: Sony A7 III + Sony 70-300
The idea of shooting Venice at night had been on my mind for some time. On January 17th, I took a train with a friend of mine at 19:00 in Rome to Venice. We shot from midnight to 6 AM and we were lucky because it was a wonderful night.
DJI Mavic 2 Pro or DJI Mavic 2 Zoom? Which is Right for You?
DJI dropped the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom not too long ago. A lot of outlets have covered the specifications of where each are similar so I don’t want to dive too deep into that. However, I will directly compare and contrast the highlights of the two drones and why one may be a better fit over the other, to help guide which might be the better fit for you.
Milkyway in the Oregon High Desert: D850 + Stack and Blend
I often shoot in complete darkness and the only way I can really pull details out of photos is by working with lenses that have very wide apertures (F 1.4, F 1.8) and a camera that can really perform under high ISO’s. Using the Nikon D850 and the Nikkor 20mm F1.8 allows me to have no fear of ISO and crank it to 10000 to get both a well-exposed sky and foreground with more detail.
Forbidden City in the Stars: Nikon D810 + 710 Frames
This photo was taken at the Meridian Gate just outside the Forbidden City in Beijing. I shot the image using a Nikon D810 with the Irix 11mm wide angle lens. I used my trusted Manfrotto 055Xpro3 to setup and frame the shot! This shot took out about 6 hours to execute as I took 710 images at 30 seconds each. I set my aperture to f/5.6 and kept myISO at 640.
Drone Light Painting Tutorial
Here I take photos of the night sky and then separately take multiple exposures of the foreground while illuminating it with my drone and two Lume Cubes.
